Thaipusm
Thaipusm is one of the grand festival in Penang. It is a Hindu festival celebrated mostly by the indian community on the full moon on the Tamil month of Thai.
Actually, it is the birthday of Murugan, a type of god and people sort of commemorates him. In Penang, Thaipusm festival always held along Jalan Utama and Jalan Waterfall.
Ok, I went to the festival three weeks ago, but before I even reached there, I already have headache. Not headache because Rihanna can't come to Malaysia, but because of TRAFFIC JAM.
The jam was horrible. The road was so congested that it was worse than the congestion in a constipated person's bowel. Cars travelling on bumper to bumper pace. Even walking is faster.
Anyway, I reached my destination safely, but with some minor cramps on my legs. Before that, I went to park at a huge parking area , which was not free,to park my car. So, at the entrance, I asked the Indian fella, berapa? 2 ringgit? He answered, bukan. 5 ringgit? bukan. 10 ringgit boss.
WHAT!!!!! 10ringgit per car, for parking!!! Holy!!! "Begitu mahal? Yala, macam ini punya la..." At the end, my father (reluctantly) paid that guy, and safely parked my car. FINALLY.
Back to the topic, this year's Thaipusm hasn't got any difference from past year's.
The Croud

So many people.
Loud Music

The music was so loud that the bass can literally change the rhythm of the heart beat.
People carrying Kavadi

Devotee carry Kavadi as a physical burden to implore for help from the god.
Then, I went to do some praying in a Temple.

Praying also need to queue-up. Ironically, although this is a Hindu festival, more than half of the people queued-up for the praying and blessing from god are chinese.
Boring.
But what made my day, was that I met a politician, in front of karpal singh's house.

Jeff Ooi. Dressed in plain Indian cloths, he offered me to take photographs with him. OMG, so humble. Jeff Ooi is a blogger-turned-politician and a member of Parliment for Jelutong. I didn't even aspect being offered to take picture with him in a first place. Well, when can you have a politician so humble and willing to take photo with you? Where can you find humble politician? In Malaysia, very few, very few.
Taking photo with Jeff Ooi, in front of Karpal Singh's house, such historic moment.

Penumbral eclipse
I am not a fan of astronomy nor I have wide knowledge about the science of the universe, so I don't know anything about this Penumbral eclipse thing. However, yesterday I read about there will be a phenomenon happening at the sky tonight, it will be an eclipse!!!
At first I was not excited about it because I was not interested at all. Then I thought why not take a look at the moon tonight, so that next time I can proudly tell people that I have seen a eclipse before.

So just now, precisely at 10.28pm, I happily (and quite excitedly)walked out of my house to see the moon. I thought that I might see a hole in the moon or something like that. But , quite disappointingly all I see was just a moon, nothing else!!! Nothing special!!! Damn!!!
Later, I did some research about Penumbral eclipse only did I realise that what I saw is really an eclipse, only that it is a less exciting eclipse that is very hard to observe.
This is what I found:
Penumbral eclipse happens when the moon passes through the earth's penumbra shadow. So, only portion of the moon is shadowed by the earth's shadow.

Now I understand. :-)

This is another photo that I shot with higher shutter speed.

Quite fun......

Christmas countdown @Gurney
This is my first time going to a countdown and I have to say, it is both exiting and boring.

First I mmet up with my friends and have dinner with them at a Thai fast food restaurant at Gurney Plaza. All are 24th central excos.
Then we went to join the countdown at Gurney Drive. We finished our food at 10pm and have to wait for two long hours for the countdown. Thanks to our organiser, Mr Tan's briliant plan. To kill time, we talked crap and watch people spraying foams at each other.
We didn't join in the fun.
Group photo of all 24th central excos. Kerry was not around because he went to flurt with other girls...
Anyway, have a happy merry Christmas.
( I know it's kind of late, but late is better than never)

It has been a year...
Dear Sze Jiunn,
I wonder how are you in Australia now. How is your study in Australia? I bet you are very happy there because you are not required to study Bahasa with your australian education. How does it feel like to celebrate Christmas during summer? Still know how to speak mandarin?
Eventhough we have msn and webcam to communicate, but I still feel like there is a barrier between both of us. There is a feeling of "so near, yet so far".
The day you went away to join the Aussies, 30th of December.

Our juniors, veeho, chun lim, jin hong, kang chian, jefferey, chun sing, gan sheng, lyy and veejie. By the way, chun sing is now as tall as gan sheng already.

Our seniours, huei jier, xing yi, yong jing and of course, your brother, sze hou.

Kean Hwa, now a medical student. Will be an aspiring doctor in the future, or maybe a politician, because many politician in Malaysia are MDs...such as Dr Teng Hock Nam.

I no need to introduce gua.

So, it has been (almost) a year since you left Penang, but I still miss you so much, same as all of our friends here.

We will remember the moments that we have spent together. We will cherish the memories, good ones or bad ones. And may our friendship last forever...
Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday.

Yours truly
